A mini album

Heya,

I tried my hands at a mini album yesterday. It was just a random thought that finally took shape. A cousin's wife is expecting their first child soon. And this kid is going to be the first in my paternal family so everybody is looking forward to the baby's arrival. :-)

The 'Bhatter' here is my maiden surname.

I have monogrammed the letters of 'Bhatter' on all the right hand side pages.

Added a few die cuts, some chipboard stickers and little embellishments here and there...

We don't know if it is a boy or a girl, so I have used all colors ;-

The rub ons are from Hobby Ideas.

I love my cuttlebug border embossing folders.

The cute stickers are a local find...

Thanks a ton to Juhi and Tejal for always replying to my SOS messages :-) I've used some glue n gloss inspired by Tejal (still waiting for her tutorial though) and my brother in law helped me with the ring and binding. :-)

Do tell me your opinion on my try... what can I change? (for the next one, that is)... and what are the binding options!!

Hugs,
Smita

This and that....

Hello there,
Here are a few simple cards I created yesterday to get myself back in the crafty groove...

This one follows the gorgeous Kazan's 2S4Y sketch (#51).... I think she'll faint seeing such an interpretation of her beautiful sketch..LOL!! Anyway... the image is a digi image from Birds cards. Love her very usable images. The ribbon treatment has another story. I learnt it from mom and though I haven't perfected it yet, I hope to work on it and get it right. Not visible clearly in the picture but the ruffles look gorgeous if done right. I'd done this flower earlier too and I love how I can add some texture and elegance to a plain foam flower.

This one is a simple notecard made from scraps of CS left after making the previous card:

I bought loads of these flowers on a recent shopping spree. Kind of find them useful.

The next two cards are just trial cards... I wanted to try the gorgeous bows from the Just Add Ink tutorials. I had to tweak it a bit based on my button type... liked it though.

All the embossing is Cuttlebug; the ribbons are from my stash; ink from Hobby Ideas; stamps are Stampin' Up; buttons from stash.

Cheers,
Smita

Two cards

This one is a sample card I made for a friend who wanted some birth announcement cards. I will need to make loads of changes to this one depending on her requirements so I thought it safe enough to post here.

Kind of bored of seeing yellow on my cards now... I just promised myself something different tomorrow...!

And this next is just an attempted ode to Tim Holtz... he he he... You know, when I started blogging and paper crafting, I couldn't understand anybody's love for distressing or for vintage images in the cards. In fact, I hated distressing... I did like those coffee-stained/aged papers though. Anyway, things have changed a great deal since then. I am now a great Tim Holtz fan... ordered a few masks and a distress ink. This card isn't a card per se... just a folded card stock on which I have tried masking and using distress ink ;-)...

Cutely pink... and Naughtily blue

Here is a baby girl card. Still to stamp the sentiment though.

Messed up a little at the last moment. Anyway, I kind of liked the colors and I'm in love with the hologram sticker, which I was quite reluctant to buy at first!

And a boy card using a free digi stamp from Cuddly Buddly. They have the cutest collection of digi stamps I think. I've had them for a while now... my printer just started working today and I wasted no time LOL!

Some handmade paper, cardstock, ric rac, and a button are all else that went into this card.

Cheers,
Smita
